What if listening
became a feedback loop?

Your brain is always changing. Our idea is to reflect some of those changes back through sound, creating an opportunity to study how the brain learns from its own activity.

Sense the signal.

A Neurable EEG headset senses tiny electrical signals at the surface of the head. These signals provide a changing view of activity, rather than a reading of your thoughts.

Reflect through sound.

A nearby Mac is intended to look for changes in the signal. Its intended feedback is a brief, subtle change in the music you’re hearing.

Explore what changes.

The research question is whether the brain can learn from that feedback without deliberate effort. There’s no score to chase or “perfect” state to perform.

This is the intended Mac-local experience. The iPhone is an optional companion for controls and records. Today’s development screens show that companion in progress. Live headset timing and training benefits are still being evaluated. The pictures on this page are illustrative.

Mac processing, music feedback, and phone controls are the intended architecture. On 8 September 2026 a raw Mac-to-iPhone relay of headset samples was verified on a local network. Qualified live feedback, calibrated timing at the ear, reliable inference of cognitive state, and a training benefit have not been established.

This is a development concept and does not diagnose or treat. Listen to the music demo below to hear the intended feedback.

  3. Music softens. The intended feedback is a brief duck or mute of music you already chose.
  4. Companion records. The phone is intended to start, watch, and save the session while the Mac keeps the time-critical work.

Can I download the app now?

The Noticing Mind is in development. A public App Store or TestFlight release is not available yet. Email James about early access or explore the current app screens.

Will I need a Neurable headset?

Yes. Live brain feedback requires a Neurable EEG headset, sold separately. We’re developing the app around the Neurable MW75 Neuro. See the headset and buying options on Neurable’s website.

Live headset support is still in development. The website sound demo works without a headset because it does not read EEG.

Does it read my thoughts or change my brain with electricity?

No thought-reading capability is being claimed. EEG senses electrical activity through external electrodes. The intended feedback is sound; the app does not deliver electrical stimulation to your brain.

Does the brain really self-correct before I notice?

That is part of the idea we want to investigate, rather than an established result of this product. Some research explores learning without deliberate control, but it does not establish a universal “before consciousness” deadline or prove that our app changes habits.

Is this a treatment or a replacement for medical care?

No. The current app is experimental, and clinical benefits have not been established. It is not offered to diagnose or treat a medical condition or to replace professional care.

Is this NeurOptimal?

The Noticing Mind app is an independent project. It is not NeurOptimal, is not endorsed by Zengar, and makes no equivalence or superiority claim. If you came here about an existing in-person neurofeedback session, contact James about sessions.
